dronjom Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 hello everyone. Sorry my bad english. I made this melody back in 2010, I immediatly put it in 1st place in my Top200-list of self created material, and I had it there for 3 weeks, but then I removed it from 1st place because I thought it reminds too much of music that exists already, so now it is... well.. 124th.. But is it really so un-original as I thought? Like, say the animals listen to this melody and they like it, what really decides if a melody is good or bad? In my own brain I can imagine this melody could fit to some kind of romantic moment in a movie, not with this scrafty sound quality ofcause but with real instruments. I didn't listen much to this melody much for the last 12 years because I thought it was.. well... stupid, but really is it stupid or is it good lol. it is difficult to judge one's own music, but with this tune it is extra difficult. Have a nice and awesome and blessed weekend. peace MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu yfoklaimar_pan3 (1) > next Quote
Omicronrg9 Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Would you mind sharing the score? It might be the key, dunno, but it doesn't remind me too much of anything in particular. Perhaps Plants vs Zombies main theme because of the chords and the way it's "enveloped", but in my honest opinion, don't worry. I understand your feeling though, my first nocturne has a certain section where I cannot avoid thinking "darn, was this resembling Haendel's Sarabande all the time or is it just me?". It was nice piece to listen to. If I had to criticize anything that would definitely be the ending: it felt a bit lacking and disconnected from the rest of the piece, but it might just be the lack of humanity MIDI playback has and in any case, this is just my humble opinion :B. Kind regards. 1 Quote
dronjom Posted September 8, 2022 Author Posted September 8, 2022 Thank you for your reply Omicronrg9 🙂 well I never used score, I made it in a simple midi program called MidiMaker, with maximum filesize 9kb or so, so I had to put together multiple of parts, then later I used midi2wav, somehow. Oh maybe I have even lost the midifile now, should be on some computer here or memorycard or separate harddisk. all my music just been there for 10-15 years. little sad today sorry, and sorry for late reply. I was active in this forum back in 2005 and 2006 and some years after, miss "back in the days" when I had the inspiration to make lots of new stuff, 2007 I made 49 melodies in one year, and the most creative week during 2007 I made one new melody everyday. Yeah I tended to make a bit odd endings, or what to call it lol, its understandable you say this:p Thanks again for your reply, peace and harmony and have a nice weekend. Best regards, Daniel Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 (edited) I don't think it is unoriginal at all! For me it fits well into game music and film music to depict some wild fairyland! I really have to admire your ability to create one melody a day! I hope I can make one a week! It is quite normal to begin a piece imitating other composers. I started the fourth movement of my clarinet quintet no.1 and found it imitating the finale of Brahms third Piano Quartet. But later on my original feelings and stuff just crush over it, and it became my music. You don't have to panick about it at all! Edited September 19, 2022 by Henry Ng Quote
