tizizicoblack Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) This summer I went to New York and in my room there was a piano, so I started teaching the Canon to my trip-mate Giulia and the last day we played a very great duo. This song is dedicated to her and of course it contains the magical chord progression of the Pachelbel's Canon, I also used the bassline as counterpoint for certain parts and I experimented with the key changes to the relative major and minor. I hope u'll like it, pls give me some advise so I can improve. Omicronrg9 Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 (edited) Would be nice to get a score, I think my feedback improves when I read & listen and It's always nice to do that. You clearly seem to know what you're doing. I am enjoying the piece and cannot find a point where there would be clear room for improvement. It is balanced, soft, listening to it is effortless...Perhaps the ending could have been lengthened up a bit? Perhaps not. The violin sounds a bit low but perhaps that's intentional or it was just that I had the volume low. The only not really useful advice I can give in these cases is: k e e p c o m p o s i n g m a t e. Thank you for sharing this :). Kind regards, Daniel–Ømicrón. Edited October 27, 2022 by Omicronrg9 Redundant "for me" Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 It's a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The piano sounds ultra-realistic, at the forefront and with plenty of reverb while the violin is really midi-ish, in the background and in a dry space without any reverb it seems, which creates a weird mismatch between these two instruments imo. I like how you include the Pachelbel's Canon chord progression in here which I've recently learned is called a leaping variant of the "Romanesca" schemata of the various galant schematas used in the classical period. Thanks for sharing! Quote
