Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 That's quite a diminutive piece, even for a bagatelle. What is the intention of this piece? I'm curious on that. Quote
Thatguy v2.0 Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 Seems like the start of a piece. Kind of a bit all over to be honest. I echo Henry, what are the intentions? It also helps to get involved in the community here, feel free to share some of your thoughts with other composers! They're more likely to give yours attention if you give some advice or critique. Even a simple "this is cool!" or "at :35 you could have done this" would help. 1 Quote
jawoodruff Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 I think I understand the attempt behind this work a little bit. There's a bit of hesitancy with your use of chromaticism here -that tells me this is more of a study piece meant to practice using chromatic inflection more. If that's the case, personally... I feel you use it to good effect. The building in of chromatic segments within your underlying harmonic progression is done fairly well. What I'd recommend if you really want to explore chromaticism without limitations is to do away with key signatures -you can still anchor the work within a perceived tonal center without having to visually display the key. This will free you up mentally to explore chromaticism a bit more. That said, a nice little work. Can't wait to hear more! Also, don't be afraid to give us some information about the piece and your intentions of writing it. It helps us to provide better feedback for you. Quote
