Alex Weidmann Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) Happy New Year to all on the Forum! Just wanted to post a quick improv, where I was messing around with an arpeggiator today. Nothing very exciting; but I thought I'd post it anyway. It was made with the AudioKit Synth One app for iPad, and Music Studio for iPad. Edit: have added a more complete version of this piece lower down the thread. Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Lovely harmony used. Love your flat submediant usage. I guess this has a snowy scene in it, very refreshing to listen to. Henry 1 Quote
Alex Weidmann Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) Did a bit more work on this, and added a vocal track. Think it's coming together! Omicronrg9 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Hi Alex! Reviewing the last iteration if you don't mind, as I think it's more "complete": • The vocals & synth sound just niiice, and they indeed add up, it's feels a bit sacred, magical, not in the strict sense perhaps but it surely gave me a feeling. I'm pretty sure it could fit into any area of an RPG videogame or something like that. • There's a bit strange transition at near ~0:30 but it's barely noticeable. • The slight detune (?) at the very end was very, very enjoyable. Not much today, I just think it's good and I prefer not to go nit-picking too much over a theme that all in all, is as you say, a quick —and allow me to add, very satisfying to listen— improvisation. Kind regards, Daniel–Ømicrón. 1 Quote
Alex Weidmann Posted January 30, 2023 Author Posted January 30, 2023 Hi Daniel, Thanks very much for listening and reviewing! The detune at the end was actually serendipity! It's just the way that particular synth sound evolves if you hold the note long enough. The hardest part for this piece was getting the offbeats in the right place. When the vocal track was strictly quantised to the beat, it sounded quite bad: so I had to do a fair bit of realignment. Alex Quote
