PeterthePapercomPoser Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 This is really great! It sounds like a melancholic Italian fugue - almost has hints of an Italian tarantella. It has a very unusual staggered/syncopated rhythm to it which takes some getting used to upon first listening. This is quite a smooth and expertly crafted piece though and I enjoy listening to it many times over and over. It has a relaxed atmosphere and the counterpoint isn't overbearing nor heavy. Well done and welcome to the forum! Quote

Luis Hernández Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Beautiful. The syncopation is wonderful and finely managed. I like that the voices appear and disappear, giving room to the melodies to be perceived. Quote

I like this version a lot too! Actually I'm not sure anymore which version I like better - they're both so good! You should write a whole set of variations on this fugue like Bach's Art of Fugue! You sure seem to have the necessary skill! Thanks for sharing. Quote
Hcab5861 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Wow, very unorthodox, yet interesting subject! I’m not a big fan of the unprepared 6/4 in the bass at measure 8, beat 3, though Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Hi @mossy84, Welcome to the forum! I enjoy the fughetta in both versions! Personally I love the organ version more! Actually the difference of both versions is just like that in die Kunst Der Fuge Contrapunctus 1 & 2: One is more square, one is spiky and dotted. Thanks for sharing and you are welcomed to review fellow talented members' works as well! Henry Quote
Luis Hernández Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Hi the second version is also great. Quote
