Hey everyone, this is a project I did for my Theory: Intro to Harmony class.

We started with just a chord progression, then added texture and a melody.

I'd love to hear any feedback, and if anyone thinks of a title, please let me know

Hey @GospelPiano12,

Overall the music is fine for sure.

I find the voice leading of b.1 strange since the F#-Bb in the melody is weird with the diminished 4th and it's left unresolved. The melody would be strange itself and at least can be compensated with the F# resolve to G later. (And similarly the CX#-F in the next bar)

In b.5 there is a Cb and B natural happening next to each other. You should just use B natural there since they are enharmonically the same and C minor is implied there.

Does the project requires you to use transposed score for a transposing instrument? If it's so you should use a key signature with one flat here since the instrument would be clarinet in Bb.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, I went back and adjusted those areas

No, I'm just leaving it as concert key.

I went back and refined my ending a little more, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks @Henry Ng Tsz Kiufor your feedback!

Hi @GospelPiano12,

I find the melody much fluent now and I think the harmonic spelling fine now! The ending is changed with added appreggios in the piano. I think the 4/2 time signature is not necessary there, just retain the 4/4 marking will be ok.

Yes, I can't remember exactly where I heard that, but I know it was from a piece I played a while back. I do feel like the ending is a bit much, like the final chord is a little delayed due to the extravagant piano line. Let me know your thoughts.

And I'm not exactly sure how to give those friend😅😬

Sorry Gospel, I'm very bad at titles, and this case is no exception, but it reminds me of a scene of some guy walking in a park at dusk with his dog barking. tmp8203c3zu.png
Something like this. It is not accurate but I haven't had more time to spend on the AI haha.

Both your initial version and the current one give me the same vibe of peacefulness. Decent job to say the least, I liked the final trill very much.

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.

The final version is quite nice!

I agree, very nice job and thank you for the score. The only issue now is that the clarinet sounds VERY silent and the piano blurs it even more, and thus the very neat moments created by the voice of the clarinet are obscured.

By the way:

I also agree, but I'm not sure how to pull the clarinet out a little more

I don't know what have you done in the prior takes, but the clarinet sounded better in those. It's just an equalization problem, not a problem of the composition itself.

I think so too, before I was using Noteflight, so it was just a lot louder - I used Finale 2005 (old ik lol) for my final drafts

Oh I see, well it's the score what matters, but if you want, send me the musicXML (I suppose Finale can export to this) and I will try to somehow export it with a more clear sound in musescore or some other software.

In any case, looking forward to check your next works man!
