UPDATED on 4/16/23c

Here's a guitar thing in D minor with an arrangement.

I'll UPDATE the mp3 as I improve on it with the posting date followed by a letter (as in a,b,c, etc... in the the event I post multiple improvements on the same day.)

I've also included a version here with speaking parts.

Enjoy.

Hi @epii,

I do think the flute melody need to be brought out more as it's quite blurred. But the guitar is very cool for a layman like me! Once again it's very cool stuff. I like how you add and change the instruments in each strophic (btw this can be a great strophic song with lyrics added!) Again your harmonic language is very mature esp. at the end. Thanks for sharing Rick!

Hello Rick,

I really like your piece. It has a very good structure and progression. Your use of harmonics and chords is excellent.

I could not identify the sound of a flute, but anyway, the muddy sound of the melody was very pleasing. I am doubtful about replacing it by a more penetrating sound of a flute. It may destroy the mood.

Instead, I would strongly recommend you (and a agree here with Henry) to include lyrics, and a make a song with verses of it. With the right type of voice, it could be made into into something rather spectacular. There is also room for an additional (instrumental (or second human) voice, particularly in some of the last verses. (I would then get rid of the choir).

All together, very nice  work with a lot of potential.

What a nice atmosphere you create. I would say I prefer the less synth-dense sound of the first passages than the one we get towards the end, but nonetheless it is definitely an enjoyable work. The bass overall is what I liked the most, and what a jazzy end!

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.

Omicronrg9,

Thank you. Funny that you like the bass because there are a lot places I would change the bass notes if I could. But I'm kind of stuck with it as it is.

The reason is because I can't find the Sonar file of this piece that contains the bass part.

So I was forced to use the audio wav file from that missing Sonar project or build it all up from scratch, which I didn't feel like doing.

Fortunately I have that original wav file.

What this all means is that this piece, as it stands, is a combination of a wav file (with parts I want to change which I simply can't, including some bass notes), and the super-imposed parts from an entirely new Sonar project.

In other words; this piece was a pain in the arse!

I just like playing it on my guitar.

I'm really glad you like it. It makes me feel like it was worth the effort to salvage it from my bag of misfit melodies.

Thanks again!

🙂

This is very good, and the beginning is fantastic with the guitar. I think you need more of this piece to show off the guitar, as the beginning really shines. I commend you on the instrumentation and your ability to portray a solid mood throughout.

As I am starting to delve into the Youtube creator world (which is extremely scary!), I'm always looking for new tunes for my shorts. I could definitely see this as something I could potentially use in my shorts. I like to bring awareness to different styles by using "clips" of different types of music in different settings I talk about. And this piece portrays such a great mood. As long as I am able to loop the music (and this is a perfect piece that can be looped anywhere), it would make a great candidate.

I might open up some type of program on Young Composers, where people who opt in, will allow me to utilize their music (and I will give appropriate shoutouts in my descriptions, always). Let me know if you'd like to be "opt in". I may manage the opt in, in our Discord.

Chopin,

Thank you very much. I'm glad you like the piece.

I really liked coming up with it just zoning out on my guitar.

As far as you possibly wanting to use it on your projects, feel free to use it as you please.

I don't ever plan on making money with my music. Composing music is just a satisfying hobby for me.

It's kind of a therapy as I have Asperger's and OCD.

Just be aware that I can't make any changes to this piece because I can't find the Sonar project file I created it in. All I have is the mixed down wav file... warts and all.

Also, I don't participate in Discord, Twitter, Facebook, or any social media at all. I have no interest in that stuff.

I do love YouTube.

Sorry if that should present a problem. I'm just not well suited for social media. I have way too many hobbies to eat up my time.

If you need to contact me here is my email:  thunddd (the aaht symbol) comcast (the doht character) net  (Am I allowed to do that here in this forum?)

Thanks again,

Rick

Thank you so much! Definitely follow me on Youtube if you enjoy the platform then. I could use the support since I am pretty new to the platform. And trust me I understand about not being a part of social media. I was like you until just 2 years ago. Since I am creating a new product, I am forced to embrace it lol. So it is no problem at all that you are not on any social media.

I don't either honestly. I just enjoy it to the point where I am creating a product for other composers. But at least you've identified what works for you.

As far as this piece is concerned, do not worry about changes, I will never ask for changes with "opt in" works. I have to think about how I'm going to manage this but since I am a developer, I can probably come up with some type of technical solution. Then when I use your music, I can just tag you to let you know that I used your music in my next short or video.

You can most certainly put your email here, however I am going to modify your email so that you aren't targeted by spam.

Thank you again Rick!

Chopin,

Thanks for understanding. And for modifying my email address for my protection.

Good luck with your project, it certainly sounds ambitious. Ambition is something I personally have always lacked.

But if you’ve got it then I say “go for it!”.

Thanks again.

chopin,

Thanks for using my gloomy music. It's an honor.

And to think "It all started with a mouse" to quote Walt Disney.

In my case the mouse is a Logitech *hehehe*.

Your very welcome! The video was fun to make, and it's already received around 50 views since I posted it! I'll try to figure out a better way to advertise my Young Composers videos. But most likely, I will add the tag #youngcomposers to every video when I use music from someone else on this site.  The tag has to get indexed by Youtube though I think.
