Maria Bencic Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) NEW SONG RELEASE! Tonight meet me in the garden "A song about grace and love" Tonight meet me in the garden is a song about grace and love, and about being aware of the desperate and constant need for the Savior. ”In the middle of deep pain, sorrow and walking astray, when one’s faintly burning wick is just about to fade out, when one whom almost given up finally remember his love, the fragrance of flowers returns to life - once again.” ”Would you catch me Mashiach if I fell Would you leave the nintynine If i went astray Would you love a sinner Like me that way” (From the songlyrics) LISTEN ON YOUTUBE MUSICVIDEO https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KAx6kCjUVRQ Download the song for FREE here: www.mariabencic.com ________________________________ Song title: Tonight meet me in the garden Song written and produced by: Maria Bencic, 2023 Vocals by: Maria Bencic LISTEN ON SOUNDCLOUD (download able) Edited April 21, 2023 by Maria Bencic MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Tonight meet me in the garden > next 1 Quote
Omicronrg9 Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Hi Maria. The almost everlasting dissonances and the constant comeback to that Gadd2/D (I believe, perhaps it's not that chord) between the voice and the piano truly give that feeling of despair and the more I listen the more uncomfortable it feels. After 5 minutes, though, I don't think it gets better nor worse, and putting the lyrics apart and taking the way the song ends into account, I believe it could have ended in any other pause between min. 5 and min. 9 without a problem compared to the actual way it ends because the last bars did not "solve" anything in my opinion. I suppose this is intended, though. You successfully managed to build a great, almost painful but enjoyable tension that works very good, but perhaps because the voice takes all the prominence and leads the subtle directionality I believe this song has in terms of melody and thus unavoidably puts the piano in a far away second place at times instead of giving it some prominence when the voice pauses, the piece gets a bit repetitive after a certain amount of time. Again I repeat, it was very enjoyable, but some pauses felt a bit artificial and the piano part did a questionable work when left alone in my opinion. However, adding a lot of piano stuff would have certainly been a dumb choice with very high chances of breaking the "mood" you crafted here; adding maybe some small recognizable ornaments in pauses wouldn't have hurt that much in my opinion. Thank you for sharing your work here, I look forward to check the next. I do think you have a great voice too, one without which the song you made wouldn't transmit what it does. Kind regards, Daniel–Ømicrón. Quote

I do think this is positive. Also, this is a bit of a cliche sentence but fear the day you "end" learning composition. I think your pieces are pretty nicely conceived already in any case. 23 minutes ago, Maria Bencic said: its very interesting to read suggestions from other composers. Indeed, I think it's something we as composers almost always enjoy. I understand, though, that many composers who usually submit their work here do not have enough time to drop feedback to others, be it criticism, suggestions, or opinions overall, which is kind of sad for I assure there is a wide catalog jewels and talented authors here, including you obviously. That said, I will share your music with some non-musician friends of mine if you don't mind. I am very curious about how your unusual approach strikes them. Have a wonderful day you too! Kind regards, Daniel–Ømicrón. 1 Quote

In my heart I want my songs to sound in a special way but dont know so much yet how to use music programs and dont have so much programs yet, but as i want the sound to be in each song is more orchestra instruments and especially violins. How kind of you to share my songs with your friends, I would be deeply happy if you did that, thank you so much! 🙂 All my songs are free for anyone to download on my website (one can even listen without internet connection) www.mariabencic.com or on soundcloud one can also download the songs. Thank you again for your kindness 🙂 Quote
