Hello.

Hope everyone is doing well.

As the title says i composed this in 20 minuts as I am experimenting between quantity vs quiality since there are some studies that mention that you should focus on quiantity so i thought i would give it a try since i am really slow at quality.

Would be happy to get feedback on it

Thank you very much.

It works because of its short duration. Quite engaging but the dynamics were somewhat flat. With a more explosive opening it would work well as a traditional prelude (i.e. the kind that a pianist would come on stage to play more to announce his arrival and quieten a chatting audience before the main work began). (I'm thinking of Liszt's Transcendental Study No 1 here.)

Unless you want to become a hack, it's best to work at quality. If you have another look at this piece in a week you might find some revision could benefit - evening out the rhythm in some parts, etc. If it was more extended you'd need some development and maybe at least one modulation and back. As you didn't submit a score I can't comment further.

Best then to see how your plan goes after you've written 10 of these!

Hi @Bjarke,

Good harmony from C minor to E minor at the beginning. As @Quinn said since it's short in length it works as a prelude or a bagatelle. Its chasing character is expressed with the compound metre.

I do agree with @Quinn that quality is more crucial. For me it's not hard to be inspired, but how to make it coherent, reasonable and polished is the hardest. For me to make a ten minute piece is much harder than making ten 1-minute piece. However having this kind of exercise is great as well as this helps you capture the inspirations down for further developments! That's a good try!

well, i am reminded of that old Woody Allen line..."the food at that place is horrible but they give you such big portions!"

this is just a general comment, i have not heard your piece yet so i am not putting it down at all.
