dormanzsombor Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Hi everyone! I wrote this romantic (mostly Grieg) style waltz as a studie piece. I am applying to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music (in Budapest, Hungary) this year, and I am writing this as part of the application (deadline is june 18th). I am hoping some of you can help me out with ideas, how to make it more stylish, more accurate, wether I should extend it with some repeats/variated repeats or not. Luis Hernández Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I think it's a very beautiful piece with a folk and modal feel to it as well. The first part is beautiful. There are some moments that cause me doubt. In bar 6 a quite original harmony is formed which I like, but the initial note of the melody (F natural) resolves by jumping to D and as it is the initial note in strong part it is a bit strange. Something similar happens in bar 20 where at the bottom you have a D# and at the top E and D natural in strong position. Quote
Aled Edwards Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 I enjoyed it, particularly the section with the fast arpeggios. Quote
