Evgeni Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 (edited) Hello everyone. For decades, I have been merely a listener of music, primarily twentieth-century classical music. Recently, I started experimenting with composing myself. Here are three short piano pieces. I would be delighted to hear your feedback. Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Hello @Evgeni, Welcome to the forum! These pieces do show your 20th century influence! The first one is my fav one. I love how you maintain the tonal melody with an underlying undercurrent of chromatic notes. For me it's quite a neo-classical one! You have the melodies semiquaver triplet apart with prime and inversion exist together in the climax. The ending is great with that cluster! Very Prokofievian! The second one is a funny piece making good use of the octave equivalance rule and the Stravinskian superimposition in 20th century. Does this also inspire by the Firebird chord as well? The third one has great tone clusters which creates unsettling mood, but as we don't have 3 hands then how can we play them?😝 Playability is important, but this work can be arranged for other instruments too. Are these your first works? They are solid and funny! Thanks for joining us! Make sure to check other members' work here and search for the Music Jotter in the youtube logo below! Henry Quote
