HtWinsor Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Here is a basic score that I still enjoy even though it's short. Has a catchy melody in the middle that I'm fond of. Enjoy! MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Waltz_10.custom_score > next PDF Waltz_10 2 Quote
chopin Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Hey, this is really fun to listen to. I agree, the middle section is very catchy. Your triplet runs are awesome and work really well here. You had some interesting key changing going, and I say interesting because when I get thrown off guard and don't know what I am going to expect next, that means the piece isn't predictable (for me at least). And you know what, your repeat was smooth as heck. I didn't even realize you had a repeat until I looked at your score. Quote

PeterthePapercomPoser Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 I like how the introduction clearly leads to the main theme from a motivic standpoint. I mean that the melodies are clearly related to each other and the main theme starts off as an elaboration of the introductory material. I think that gives this particular composition more thematic unity which really helps to cement its melodies in the listeners mind. What I personally would avoid is this part: The sudden accelerated flourish of notes (especially at a non-homogeneous speed) confuses the listener and is not based on any kind of recognizable melodic contour. In other words, it seems to be a scale just for a scales sake which is just about the most boring melody one could write. But the piece does have its strong points besides this and a few other weaknesses. Thanks for sharing! Quote
