Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 Will this idea be an important theme to be developed on? The harmony is again quite impressionistic. What is your intention of composing the concerto? What will be the size of the orchestra? Is this piano concerto one with the pianist as the absolute main soloist with the whole orchestra accompanying its virtuosic display, or rather a competition between the soloist and the orchestra, or the soloist as a tragedian? Omicronrg9 Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 I agree with Henry and I would insist on those questions. There are some pauses that end up shaping some kind of rhythm at the beginning which don't really convince me. Apart from that, the following 25-30s were enjoyable. Kind regards, Daniel–Ømicrón. 1 Quote

Henry Yes, the idea is the main theme of the piece. I'd like to experiment with piano being used as not only a virtuosic showcase but as a device to work with and support the orchestra. I've settled for now on the name "fantasie for piano and orchestra" so while it has some concerto aspects, like i plan for there to be a cadenza, the piano and orchestra have equal footing. Quote

Yup it's great you have a clear idea on what you want to do! Really looks forward to your progress of the concerto! Henry Quote
