Beethoven is God Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 Well it was my first orchestral piece, form 2017 (I was nine years old I think?). Copied it to MS4 for comfortability, and I share it here because why not.Revenge.pdf BTW it was the theme for my D&D campaign called "Revenge", so... yeah it's not a "nice" piece in terms of mood. I'll recycles those motifs, they were great. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Revenge > next PDF Revenge 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Of course, that's quite an accomplishment if you were 9 years old. The result is intense and diversified. It's not helped much by the synthetic sound, particularly in the tympani and tremolos in general. There are some approaches that, I think, could be improved, from my point of view. For example, the texture is almost all the time homophonic, that is, in parallel movement of instruments. It is also rare to find passages where any group of instruments makes a harmonic support (in long notes). I also think that sometimes, harmonizing with instruments as low as the bass trombone conflicts with the basses of the orchestra. But come on, it's a great job. 1 Quote

Well yes, even though the orchestration has been edited by like three different people. 1 hour ago, Luis Hernández said: For example, the texture is almost all the time homophonic, that is, in parallel movement of instruments. A problem I struggled with a lot up to about a year ago. 1 hour ago, Luis Hernández said: It is also rare to find passages where any group of instruments makes a harmonic support (in long notes) This too. 1 hour ago, Luis Hernández said: I also think that sometimes, harmonizing with instruments as low as the bass trombone conflicts with the basses of the orchestra. How exactly? Quote

But as one makes a melodic figure and the strings are fixed, the notes conflict. In general there are some intervals that it is preferable to respect in the low tessitura, that is why the instruments in that zone usually play in unison. This is a better solution: 1 Quote
