chopin Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 That's one epic boss fight. I like how you have an intro, after the intro. It's a very organized suite of music. Speaking of your intro in Phase 1, this actually reminds me of the beginning section of Tchaikovksy's symphony 4 (after his horn intro), which is one of his strongest symphonies in my opinion. You nailed it there. Overall I like the chord progressions and beat you use for the piece, and you make me proud of your usage of acciaccaturas (I think they are acciaccaturas, I don't have the sheet music). Either way, great way to use ornaments in your music, and its a fun melody for a boss fight. As far as the recording itself, perhaps a bit more wet reverb would help. The recording sounds a bit dry. But that may just be my personal preference. 1 Quote
Luis Hernández Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 number 146 has an interesting epic beginning, also different chord changes. Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hi Gabriel, Nice job with these! I think they are much more intense than the previous tracks I reviewed. The music for the appearance of Orphan is very effective both as an intro and as a foreshadowing/exposition of the themes used in the actual boss music. I think my favorite part is 1:36 - 1:38 where you use a very chromatic melody to unsettle the listener. There are also plenty of contrasts in the piece giving a respite from the choir ahh's. The only thing that I think would improve the piece further would be if you found a way to give the listener a break from the constant low string and percussion driving rhythms and string ostinati, possibly through reprising the introduction of the piece somewhere in the middle. Or in some way suspending the constant motion of the piece with a high intensity flourish with lots of motion/scales in the high strings. Those are my thoughts. Thanks for sharing! Peter Quote
