Aria for orchestra

This is what I have been working on for the last few weeks. Applying everything I'm learning about orchestration. 
Movement II is underway...  See modified and expanded version below.

This sounds amazing! I really like the pastoral mood of the piece. I don’t think I’m knowledgeable enough about this type of orchestration too a “critique” on that aspect of the piece. The only “critique” would be that I think a section that has sometime of tempo contrast could help with the piece. This, I think, would help give the piece more energy in contrast to the overall subdued nature of the piece. But overall I really like it!

Yes! That’s what I mean! Unless, this is planned as a movement to a larger work, I could see this as being a standalone slow movement!

OK, it is the standard many times. A fast part in the middle of a slow aria. Actually, this has its origin in sung arias. The fast part is a "rest" for the singer, paradoxically, but that's the way it is.
But hey, in an instrumental setting you can do what you want too.
Yes, I'm writing a second movement but mem I'm afraid it's even slower, haha.

Finally you finish the piece!

First the opening is very attractive with those harmonies. 

I love in section you are featuring those middle to low register instruments, after the opening which is filled with high register melody. I love in section E the theme comes back with different colour. Very motivic in b.65 with the trumpet and flute.

Very lovely modulation in around section G. Just the trumpets seem too loud and bright for me.

That chord change in b.135 is fascinating, with the G# minor chord reinterpreted as the flat subdominant of Eb major and then smoothly modulates back to G minor.

The ending is serene, except that maybe I want a longer one since it seems to me the recapitulation of G minor is out weighted by the previous section. Also this includes my selfish reason of wanting the piece to be longer haha.

Overall this is a very colourful piece for me who never write anything orchestral. Very serene, tragic and moody piece. Thx for sharing!

I’m taking your comments into account.

there is a second part on the way ….

In fact, although I never redo things I'm supposed to have already finished, in this case I'm going to do it.
1. I will check those trumpets that, it is true, I forgot to lower their dynamics and they eat everything, you have to be careful with the metals.
2. I will revise the ending with the intention of extending it, possibly based on some previous material.
3. I am not sure about this but I will try to insert a faster part in the center. The thing is that the part already has quite a few different parts and I don't know if it will work.

I do feel like the last section is more balanced now! Also it's only up to the end that I realize the trumpet in section G is tuned down to quieter volume, which means that this one is more fluent version!

Yes, the trumpets were too loud there... I think this version is better. I'll see if I'll put it on you tube, it takes a while.
