Wastavino Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 This post was recognized by PeterthePapercomPoser! "Great performance! Well played." Wastavino was awarded the badge 'Ivory Tickler' and 5 points. I don't know, something like passepied from suite bergamasque. PDF Cuidado, el coipo Quote
Luis Hernández Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Great work. For me, the best are the modulations and the idiomatic language of the piano. Although the transitions are not bad at all, the contrast of styles between a part that sounds very classicist and another very impressionistic. Quote
Aiwendil Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 I like this a lot! I like the modulations and the contrasts in style. My only complaint is that because of those A naturals in the preceding bar, my ear hears the final B major as a dominant. I almost expect to hear a new section begin in E minor after it. Quote

Thanks for the review!, some one asked to expand it too, maybe I’ll do a modal section making B a v minor and that e minor seccion after it 🙂. Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Hi @Wastavino, The opening modulations are funny with the descending major 2nd, and Eb minor can be difficult to play! I like the tranquilo section. The modulation in b.26-27 is a bit forceful to me since in the original one in b.4-5 it modulates from Eb minor to C# minor, and you are repeating the pattern here but with the next bar retains in Eb minor, and this can be forceful since the two keys are remote with each other except within a harmonic sequence as in the beginning. I also agree with Luis that there are too many contrasting styles and harmonic languages within a piece less than 2 minutes. Transitions can be better prepared for each of the sections, and many of the materials are interesting and should be developed, for examples materials in b.9, 11, 15, 19 are all distinctive but you left them undeveloped. B.29 can use a key signature of 1 sharp since it's E minor there. Thx for sharing! Henry Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I can hear the slight resemblance to the passepied from suite bergamasque! But I think this is quite different and the harmonic rhythm is quicker - the harmonies more quirky and wild. But this is still quite recognizable impressionism. Kudos on learning and playing this yourself! That is always quite a satisfying challenge. However - the piece doesn't quite seem finished to me. Maybe the place where you've arrived is a good spot for some kind of even different contrasting section before once again returning to the main theme from the beginning in a kind of rondo form? I don't know - that's just my impression/suggestion. Thanks for sharing! Quote
