The Composer Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I wished I played the oboe! It sounds so good! Quote
Gardener Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 An Organ! A cathedral one! Wish I could buy myself a cathedral. I used to think that by taking up drums and percussion I could be the loudest musician around... I was wrong XD Buy some powerful speakers, and you can be the loudest musician simply with your computer. Quote
Fortissimo Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 :( If I could play my choice of instrument incredibly well... I would either choose baritone or french horn. They are what brings a concert band its awesome power. Due to my clef lip, I'm doomed to play clarinet (my second choice) Quote
tomsmith2010 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I like the bamboo flute. This kind of instrument only available in India i think Quote
Glassy Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I wish I could play the cor anglais and/or the French horn. Sooo beautiful. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I wish I could play: HECKELPHONE!! ...... Quote
phython Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 (edited) I used to think having a huge skill-set of various instruments would be cool, but you know what? Piano is enough. If I ever am able to be given a time machine, I'd take up the double bass though!!! Edited August 13, 2016 by phython Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 *laughs* Is this sarcasm? Yes, I think so. At least I hope so. In the "old days" the 'cello was held between the calves and didn't have an endpin. The endpin wasn't introduced until the 1830s, like most modern instrumental innovations. I think I said earlier that I'd want to play oboe or french horn, but I think I'd also like to add viol (viola da gamba) and baroque flute to that. I'm toying with buying a viol at present. Quote
keman Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I wish I could play the Duduk or any other ethnic flute. :) Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 John, if you play piano (and I'm pretty sure you do), it's a very small stretch to harpsichord. I cut my teeth at the piano (though I don't play well anymore), and when I got my harpsichord, a whole world of new playing possibilities opened up, requiring very little adjustment. Quote
SYS65 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 i know several pianists that are totally unable to play in organ, yeah the keys looks similar but it is much more different of what it looks, beginnig wth how to turn it on hahahaha Quote
xrsbit Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 He probably means that there isn't an organ or harpsichord for him to play on. Quote
SYS65 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 a yep, Changing the question to What instrument you wish you could own ? Well I'd like to have a marimba or a vibraphone, would be such fun Quote
Mitchell Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I probably posted in this thread five years ago... my answer stands. Bassoon. Quote
SYS65 Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think contrabassoon is cooler, not just in the super low zone, but in its entire range has a superb personality, once I wrote a solo for contra and was really cool, I will write more. Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 A viol, and a period-correct clavichord. And a French double-harpsichord. Quote
Mitchell Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I want to be cool and write a contrabassoon solo too Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Contrabassoon solo and musical saw. WOW that would be cool. They're cousins, you know. Quote
SYS65 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 this is a recording of my work where I wrote the contrabassoon solo, I only could make recordings of some movements because that work is very large and I didn't have libraries to render the parts when the full army plays, but I did record this movement, I amplified a lot this mp3 because this mov is actually very soft. The contrabassoon plays at 1:19 - 2:27 http://www.box.net/shared/7e9k4espbd I think it worked perfectly for what I wanted to express. I will use it more, too bad my VSL has only the last octave of the contra, the rest is bassoon, in the same patch, I'll try to re-use that GPO1 I used that time. Quote
ParanoidFreak Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Contrabassoon solo and musical saw. WOW that would be cool. They're cousins, you know. In every redneck sense of the word. Quote
StuMeEveryone Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I've always wanted to learn the accordion, ever since I heard the soundtrack to Amelie and Tom Waits & The Tiger Lillies macabre theatrical use of it. Quote
