MJFOBOE Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) Hi all, This is an orchestra composition I started years ago and posted. Since then ... over the last 3 weeks or so - I have developed the work. I had one meeting with my mentor to get started; however, I need to arrange a new meeting to share this latest and most complete version. As the title suggests this is NOT a romantic work. All comments most welcome. Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Hi @MJFOBOE, The piece is quite interesting with your usual approach of the orchestral colour. I actually have never seen you end a piece in this energetic manner with a long crescendo up to the end and in an affirming G major key. Thx for sharing. Henry Quote
MJFOBOE Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Henry, As always thanks for listening .... Yes, the ending is a bit different for me. I played the work for my son-in law the other week (a music teacher) and he thought my original ending lack a strong final statement. So the other day I wrote the new ending. I guess it has a bit of the 20th century in it. As I said I haven't shared this with my Mentor as yet; so it will be interesting to get his feedback. In any event - I wanted to create a bit of ruckus and discomfort as the title indicates. If I do make changes I will post them for comparison sake. I am getting better writing supporting/contrasting harmonic lines as written in the upper voices and brass to contrast to my melodic/thematic material. Always a pleasure to post. Mark Quote
