MJFOBOE Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Hi all, He's a piece - edited, reworked, etc. This is the first complete draft. I still have to run it by my friends etc. For my part - just a bit of fun. I have to decide where to take it and/or add more material. So all comments as I move ahead are appreciated. MJFOBOE Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 Hi all, Met with my mentor today ... so I will do some work on this piece as per our discussion and re-post at a later date. Mark Still comments appreciated. Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 So the first thing I notice is that the score doesn't specify whether it's concert pitch or transposed. When I look at the French Horn part it looks like it's in concert pitch (which is also why you seem to have so many ugly looking ledger lines below the staff in the Horn part). But then when I look at the Clarinet part that's thrown into doubt. Also - in a Wind Quintet like this, the Bassoon is expected to be at the bottom of the score with the French Horn directly above it. Musically the piece is certainly interesting. With some very funny chromaticism which seems to constantly contradict itself. My favorite measures are 24, 39, and 68 in the Clarinet part - I think those are especially funny musical gestures. Thanks for sharing! Quote
MJFOBOE Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 Thanks for reminding me about the score order. Yes, it's in concert pitch. Glad you enjoyed the humor. Mark Quote
