Question:

What is your general outlook as to the MISSION of your composing?

The binary extremes to me seem to be the Lonely Tortured Artist creating ART in solitude, or the CARNIVAL BARKER--- eagerly serving up what the public wants, how they want it, when they want it.

Think , perhaps, of Johann Strauss vs. Schubert...

One wants respect,  The other wants LOVE--?

I must say, I am of the Carnival Barker mindset.  I want my music listened to!  Selfish, I know.    Fortunately, my pedestrian tastes align with CD/streaming, concert ticket sales of classical music.

I am working hard, and if at best I end up being a producer of listenable KITSCH, I WOULD BE OVERJOYED!   I am starting to recognize just how much knowledge and skill goes in to simply making pastiche!

Anyhow, what do you think?  Where are you on the spectrum?
