Fugax Contrapunctus Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) Having been trying out the choral rendering website Cantāmus over the course of the past few weeks, I have finally composed this religious-themed motet yesterday in memory of my late grandmother Marisol, who passed away in late August last year. Besides being a beloved, wonderful and caring grandmother, as well as an excellent cook, she was also a pious and devout Catholic, and as such, I deemed both a Kyrie Eleison and the first five versicles of the Pater Noster to be a fitting choice of lyrics for this motet. Dona Nobis Pacem also appears once simultaneously in the alto and the bass, and the fifth versicle of the Pater Noster appears conjoined with the fragment "et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis". Enjoy! Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Hi Pabio @Fugax Contrapunctus, It's nice to see you compose vocal works and use the counterpoint technique to it. I love this piece more than your instrumental pieces even though this one is not a fugue. Personally I love the a Capella version more than the one with organ. Thx for sharing! Henry 1 Quote
GospelPiano12 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Wow...this work is very beautiful. Nice counterpoint writing - really well done. Your voice-leading throughout is 👌🏾 Quote
Guillem82 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 That is a lovely motet and dedication. Well done! Have you inspired by a particular composer or set of motets? Quote
