Eickso Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Hey all, A really big premiere happened for me this week that I wanted to share. This is my solo sax piece I shared the midi of earlier this year, but now it was performed by my truly amazing bestie. Curious to hear your thoughts. The grit and energy put in by the performers was perfect and expresses this bridge piece between old tonal Evan and new weird Evan perfectly. Still lots of composing happening. My stuff is quite different these days. Will probably be back for advice next month on my next work. 1 Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Hi @Eickso, The opening is lovely with repeated pattern in the piano LH with tone clusters RH which is certainly what you will do. The saxophone part seems real hard to play. That irregular sforzando in 0:54 reminds me of Stravinskian Sacrificial Dance, and props to your bestie who are really truly amazing to play them that well. The slow section in 2:30 is captivating which frequently interrupted by the saxophone outburst. The flutter tone of the saxophone must be hard to play with! This piece is real American: showy, displaying, spicy throughout the whole time. Enjoy! 1 hour ago, Eickso said: between old tonal Evan and new weird Evan perfectly. To be honest I think the old Evan is weird enough too! Is there the old tonal Evan exist before? Thx for sharing! Henry Quote
