Hi all,

Here's a small work ... for Violin Viola Piano.  I hope you enjoy it.  I most probably will give it a new name ... to reflect its mood/color (suggestions welcome).  All comments most appreciation.  This is the 2nd revision.

It's a quaint little work - for me it fits the season of winter.  But besides naming it according to that you should also make sure to call it a "Piano Trio" since it's most definitely not a quartet having only 3 instruments in the group, not 4.  Even though you've replaced the usual Cello in a Piano Trio with a Viola, I think it still qualifies as a Trio.  Thanks for sharing!

How embarrassing .... What was I thinking or not thinking; of course it's a Trio!!!

As fall as the season goes .... my mentor says it reminds him of Autumn.

Hi Mark @MJFOBOE,

I think this piece refreshing! I enjoy your harmonic choice as usually appered in your music. I agree with your mentor saying the piece is autumnal. It's a bit sad but not as cold as winter. I think sometimes you can exchange the roles of the pianist and the string players, since the pianist is always playing all the 16th notes and the string players usually play homogenously with the melody. Maybe the pianist can play those chords too!

Thx for sharing.

Henry,

Thanks for the comments .... Yes, I do agree with your suggestions .... I wonder if I should add a mid section and try them.  Right now I am wondering if another version with a slight additional harmonic variation in the present arrangement - might also add to the work.

My wife also really liked the feel of this piece ....

Okay- please indulge me.  I reworked the middle to create a bit of variety by introducing a key change to E major.  Comments welcome ... still fussing with it.

I agree with this, and you could explore even farther. You could have moments where an instrument drops out (piano since it's so dominant throughout?), or give space to let each instrument shine when it needs to. Really think about the capabilities and colors the instruments can create!
