olivercomposer Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Hello Guys, This is my newest piece of music about the famous location in the novel. What do you think? 1 Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Hi @olivercomposer, I think the opening captures the gloomy atmosphere of Mordor. I think the trombones and brass passages in general are well used this time for it fits the epic scenes happening in the novel very well. The transition to B minor for excitement is great too since there are fighting scenes there too. The playing between these two hextaonlcally related keys really enhances the tension for this descriptive incidental piece. Thx for sharing! Henry 1 Quote

AngelCityOutlaw Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 I would say that the dynamics of the piece could be more varied; it's largely of the same dynamics and intensity throughout, which makes it feel less menacing and mysterious IMO 1 Quote

I checked out my mastering project, and as I saw, the quietest part of the track is about -20 (integrated) LUFS and the loudest is about -14 LUFS. Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Hi @olivercomposer! The pauses in the beginning sound very grand and dramatic and give the music room to breathe. When the choir comes in you also up the intensity and motion of the strings which really makes it sound very dramatic! I think I've noticed a certain habit of yours that is almost a cliche that is present in almost all your melodies - you very frequently land your phrases on the 5th of the scale in their conclusion or right before their breath. Not necessarily a good or bad thing - just a characteristic I'd say. Thanks for sharing! Peter 1 Quote
