MJFOBOE Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Hi all, Here is a work composed many years back and tweaked a bit a year ago. It is a program work. The start of the day, the climb to the summit, the overlook and the coming of night. Feedback always appreciated. PeterthePapercomPoser Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Hi Mark! Wow - the introduction of this piece is among one of your most melodically coherent and succinct ones you've ever published here imo! I love how you pass the theme from bassoon, to strings, clarinet, back to strings, to trumpet, back to strings for the close. Very beautiful orchestration and writing! It's so simple but effective. The sudden key change at 1:17 is like an infusion of energy and vigor! Very nice! Soon you bring in those woodblocks bringing to my mind some kind of horse-trot. Which is very fitting for a piece titled "Canyon Vista" - I can easily imagine a cowboy traveling around the canyon on his loyal steed! I love the smooth transition to the recap at 4:29. I think this is for me, your most coherent and well written piece I've ever heard. Thanks for sharing! Peter Quote
