AM-Valkyrie Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Really nice. I like the melody, it's kind of catchy. Awesome counterpoint, sound very baroque-ish. I thought something was a little off about the phrasing and then I noticed that the second period is 9 bars while the first one is 8. That added bar is unusual, is that on purpose? 1 Quote

Thanks for the feedback! For the second part I added the that last bar at the end to show that I was planning to continue on with idea, so that its not a real ending! Quote
AM-Valkyrie Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I see. That makes sense then. I guess I got caught off by the cadences that are full-on preparing you for the next part already. Nice! 1 Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Hi @Guardian25, I like the driving rhythm of the gigue! Will you go for a dominant entry for the second entry in your left hand manual part instead of tonic A major? 1 Quote

PeterthePapercomPoser Posted March 9 Posted March 9 This beginning certainly is very gigue-like with well written counterpoint and in the style expected of a gigue! Have you worked on this anymore at all since you posted it? I personally prefer a string orchestra as the ideal venue for writing old Baroque dances like my own specimens suggest. Thanks for sharing! Peter Hey! I have worked a bit more on this, since ive posted this, but I need to finish it! I will take this as a sign to do so And I will have to eventually explore the string orchestra. That would be two violins, viola, cello, and double bass right? 1 Quote
