HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Dude, you've got to take some screenshots. Some of your claims seem kind of ridiculous, and are hard to track down with just a text description. It appeared for only a second, and I don't know how to do a screenshot Quote
Laogeodritt Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 re: "This member is online", it's probably the little "online" bulb that appears. The image hadn't been downloaded yet so the browser was showing the alt-text. Quote

Laogeodritt Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 If they had been online within the last few minutes (say up to 30 - depends on the server though), it may just be a delay due to the method that PHP-based software uses to detect whether someone is online or not. Quote

Ferkungamabooboo Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 It appeared for only a second, and I don't know how to do a screenshot Really? Come on, you're on a computer til 4am every day and you can't hit "Print Screen" and drop it to a Paint file? If you're on a Mac, fine -- it's a bit more annoying to do it. But still a basic knowledge thing. Quote

Tuskle Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 There is something about the thread display modes (threaded and hybrid view - basically both cause trouble only on threads with a lot of posts): The hybrid mode does not allow me to view any page other than page one. If I try to switch to another page, I receive a '400 Bad Request'. The threaded view only shows posts form 1 to 40 counting from the original post. Any post higher than the 40th will cause the actively shown post to switch back to the very first one. Please let me know, if I'm the only one getting these errors. I like the alternative ways of viewing threads - feels different somehow... Quote

I did get the 400 error thing last night, but it was on another site. :P Quote
Tuskle Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 You don't get these kind of errors even when switching to the hybrid or threaded display modes? Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Uh, when I looked at the wiki I got this: 404 ERROR! Category:Musical%20Forms was not found. You may be seeing this page because Young Composers has now changed. We have a completely new site layout and a much more active forum. Here are some links you may wish to follow: * Home page * Wiki home * Forum * Archives (contains a copy of the old forum and music submissions) Quote
Laogeodritt Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Sounds like your browser double-encoded the space - literally sent %20 (with a URL-encoded %) instead of sending a URL-encoded space. i.e., it's your browser that caused the problem, not the wiki software or server. This is a WORKSFORME, btw. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Well it's about time I mentioned this If I go to the bottom of the page, sometimes, (about once every 2 days or so) it says a member is online and they are not. You know where it says online members, and then, like today, it says Jen is online, but she isn't. Is this bad? Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 The system deems you as "online" for half an hour after your last action. If it's saying that, it probably means she's recently left. Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 No actually, she wasn't online for the last 30 mins, or for that matter, over 24 hours! Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Uhhh....... I was talking to someone in the shoutbox when suddenly shouts started going out, I mean literally disappearing! It went to about 3 shouts then when you added a shout it added to the 3 already there, before going back to normal... uhhhh.......  Quote
HeckelphoneNYC Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Weird indeed. I got something a few minutes ago that got me scared. It said: 3:34 am: You have been permanently banned from the shoutbox for the following reason:I am wondering..... plus it was only 12:34 am my time. And when I logged back in a minute later, it had the shoutbox completely open for me to say something... Uh that same thing happened again... plus one more thing.... At 12:19 am: You have been permanetly banned from the shoutbox for the following reason: lol  Quote
James H. Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 This is probably happening because you are clearing your cache and temporary internet files. What this does is log you off of the site the moment you perform the action. What could also do it is if you lose your internet connection for even a second or so. As non-members are not permitted to view the shoutbox and since you already had the window with the shoutbox open, the system gets confused and sends you a message assuming you've been banned. When you refresh the page the error is gone. Judging by the fact that you've reported that your shouts were disappearing (i.e., they took a while to appear) I'm thinking you have a dodgy connection. Will Kirk Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I remember when this thread was like... 4 pages long :P Quote

Mike Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 I don't really understand how users can seem to get logged out momentarily for no reason, but I have made a small fix to the shoutbox which allows those that the site perceives as guests to retrieve the list of latest shouts. This should fix the periodic "you are banned" message. Can't really shed any light on everything else. It must be sleep deprivation or schizophrenia. ;) (Not on my part, that is) Quote

And YAY for the fixing, now I'll never be banned again! ............................... (I hope ) Quote
James H. Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Seems to have worked. I cleared my cookies while viewing the shoutbox and it didn't try and tell me I was banned. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Two problems: 1. The pager has been behaving a little oddly for me. I'll reply to a message, refresh the page, and see the same message again. When I check the pager messages, it says my reply was sent, but it will still insist on opening the message each time I refresh. Also, yesterday I sent a pager and the recipient says when they received it, it said it was from an "Unregistered User." 2. Whenever I click a link to a wiki page in the recent changes box below the shoutbox, I am never actually able to access the page. It goes to the wiki but it always says "here is currently no text in this page, you can search for this page title in other pages or edit this page." But when I go to the "recent changes" page within the wiki, I can access it just fine. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 3. Is there supposed to be an image for Skype on the profiles? All I see is the alt text and I just installed this browser so I don't think it's a cookies problem. Quote
