1st International Classical Music Competition for composers up to 25 years old

Regulation

1. Conditions: composers up to 25 years of age who personally perform their own classical music pieces in "performance solo" or in "instrumental formation" are admitted. The Competition aims to give new young talents in composition the opportunity to emerge on the national and international scene.
Compositions that do not appear to be original works composed by the candidates will be disqualified. Compositions that have already won prizes in national or international Competitions are not admitted.

1st category from 12 to 18 years old: “piano solo” performance
2nd category from 12 to 18 years old: instruments at point 2. in “solo, duo, trio or quartet” performance
3rd category from 19 to 25 years old: “piano solo” performance
4th category from 19 to 25 years old: instruments at point 2. in “solo, duo, trio or quartet” performance
An instrumental skill level of at least 5th grade is recommended and a letter of introduction from the teacher is appreciated, but not mandatory. Schools will be able to register their students.

2. Allowed music instruments:
1st and 3rd category: piano
2nd and 4th category: piano - violin - viola - cello - oboe - clarinet - flute - horn - bassoon - classical guitar.

3. Duration of the performance: from approximately 5 to 15 minutes (only one composition can be performed, which can also be made up of several parts).
4. Registration fees as:
a) composer in “solo” performance €130 (early deadline by 30/06/2024) or €150 (last deadline by 31/08/2024)
b) composer leader of the group in “duo, trio or quartet” 
€130 (early deadline by 30/06/2024) or €150 (last deadline by 31/08/2024)
c) member of the group (duo, trio or quartet) 
€50 (early and last deadline).
5. Registration: send an email with the subject “The Return 2024 – name/surname of the candidate or group leader” to mozart.malta@gmail.com by 30 June 2024 (early deadline) or by 31 August 2024 (last deadline) with the following attachments:
a) 
LINK to the full video of the composition (downloadable) performed personally by the candidate or by the group with which the candidate performs as group leader
b) 
a registration form for each participant completed and signed (IMPORTANT: the group leader composer must attach to his/her email the registration forms of all the members of the group together with all the other required documents)
c) 
data form for issuing the receipt by AMIM and IBAN for payment (attachment n.1)
d
) receipt of payment of the registration fee, which can be paid individually for each participant or for the entire group, to be paid to Associazione Mozart Italia Malta with reason “The Return 2024 – name/surname of the participant or of the group leader composer”

e) copyright waiver for SIAE/or other, on the composition played in the Competition, signed by the composer and a Parent if the participant is under 18 years of age (attachment n.2)
f) 
identity document(s) of all participants (for minor participants, a Parent's document must be attached, clearly relate the Parent with his/her son/daughter in the case of groups)
g) 
photo of the candidate or of the instrumental group with which he/she is performing
h) 
Curriculum Vitae of the "solo performance" candidate or of the group leader
Registrations will be considered valid only after received both the bank transfer and all the required documentation. The participation fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. Based on the number of participants in the Competition, the Organizers may modify the regulations, the time of the performance, the number or amounts of the final prizes to be awarded.

6. Admission to the Final Concert: a Jury appointed by AMIM specifically for the first preliminary phase will select at its sole discretion at least 5 candidates for each category to be admitted to the Final Concert on 20/10/2024 at the Sala Filarmonica in Rovereto.
The admitted candidates will perform following the appearance program which will result from the extraction of a letter of the alphabet from which to start (referring to the surname of the candidate or group leader).

7. Prizes: prizes will be awarded at the Final Concert according to the final judgment of the Jury of Experts made up of at least 3 members, as follows:
1st category (12-18 age): €600 first overall prize for "piano solo" performance
2nd category (12-18 age): €600 first overall prize for “solo, duo, trio or quartet" performance of the other instruments admitted to the competition
3rd category (19-25 age): €1000 first overall prize for "piano solo" performance
4th category (19-25 age): €1000 first overall prize for "solo, duo, trio or quartet" performance of the other instruments admitted to the competition.
All other competitors/groups will receive a "Certificate of Participation".
Not all prizes may be awarded if the Jury deems that there are no deserving candidates.
In the months following the Competition, concerts may be organized by AMI Malta or by AMI International headquarters in Rovereto, to which the winners will be invited, who agree to participate and/or in collaboration with other Italian/foreign AMI offices or foreign Mozart Associations.

8. Stay and board: organization and expenses are the responsibility of each participant.
9. Authorizations: the participants in the Competition (or their parents in the case of minors) authorize the Organizers to disseminate photo/audio/video/TV footage material of the event on Youtube, social networks, websites, radio and media of communication, which may be used for promotional purposes only.
10. Ownership and copyright: The Organizers retain ownership of the materials sent during the selection phase and any photos/audio/video/TV footage of the event and will archive them in the Associations' Music Archive, without prejudice to the fact that the authors hold the copyright. Participants in the Competition (or their parents in the case of minors) will renounce in writing the payment of copyright on the music they perform during the Final Concert of the Competition.
11. The Organizers will not be responsible for any accident or injury, loss, shortage, damage to persons or things that may occur during the entire duration of the Competition within the Sala Filarmonica in Rovereto. For the avoidance of doubt, the Organizers will not be responsible for the actions of third parties for damage to persons or property during the event in question.
12. Privacy: the personal data of the participants will be used for the sole purpose of organizing the Festival, as per the Privacy Law in force in Italy.
13. The participants in the “Il Ritorno 2024” Competition have read and accept this regulation in its entirety, unconditionally and in full.
14. In the event of a dispute, the official text of these Regulations in Italian will prevail.
