Any plans to use this for a suite? It reminds me of Corelli's church sonatas, especially when using the organ as a continuo instrumnent! Initially the trills on the end of the bars, kind of sounded a bit "off", but after several listens they started to sound "right" to my ears! Quote
Willibald Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Thanks for sharing! Like @Nicholas Schuman, I listened a few times to it as it is so pleasant and engaging. Would be nice if you would pair it with a quick lively movement if you ever feel like it. Quote
Rich Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Liked this very much----- Why did you use violin for the 2nd string voice, vs. viola? I know Baroque practice varied widely as far as instrumentation--- I'm thinking the alto voice of the viola would help listeners to more easily differentiate voices in the imitative counterpoint. PeterthePapercomPoser Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Hi @Guillem82! Great job with the 3-voice counterpoint in this trio sonata! I am just reading about this exact kind of counterpoint in Kent Kennan's Counterpoint book! I love how you give the music time to breathe with short interludes with reduced number of voices/changed texture - I think that is what makes the piece interesting and a lucid listening experience from beginning to end. Even the short pauses where all the voices stop playing for one beat aren't out of place. And there's beautiful motifs that recur throughout that hold the listeners attention. Thanks for sharing!
