Posted (edited)

I just met with my mentor ... Here's a revised work.

Reviewed tempo changes and tympani line - the overall arch of the work.

Well, the work never ends ... I made further modifications ....a slightly different ending and again meter changes.

I have to share it with my mentor.  Since no one has commented so far - I will only post if someones would like to hear the enhancements.

In any event my wife likes my new orchestration ... "very Nice"!

Hi @MJFOBOE!

I listened to the most updated version.  I expected a piece titled "About Town" to be perhaps more energetic and upbeat.  To me it sounds like an unwilling march, like someone who doesn't want to go about town and is tired and just wants to sit down.  Those are just my own impressions from listening to the piece.

To critique the score - one thing I noticed is this ugly way you decided to notate staccato/spiccato in the Violins:

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks ... I corrected the notation ... originally those were sextuplets and I wanted a different sound - so I just rested the notes to create triplets .... 😬

As always thanks for the review ... sorry you experienced my composition very differently then I intended.

I said, that if someone posted on this thread again - I would post an update.

This update has very minor tweaks - with a very slightly reworked ending.

All comments always appreciated.

Mark

PS: As you see this is the 8th revision and the last!
