General Pokopo
Hello guys, i'v made string based piece. I tried to focus on adding some variety to beat, and harmony (but coutiously) so it wouldnt sound very boring. I'm not 100% confident with second part maybe its too rushed and could be longer Also the melody from first part never comes back. Should it come back at some point? Let me know. 😄 This also contains kind of epilogue at the end, not sure if it fit the rest. As always i welcome your critical opinion and advice how to improve. Have a good day! 😄
PeterthePapercomPoser
Hi @General Pokopo! Your track seems to be lead by the drumset. For me, the melodic and harmonic elements aren't cohesive and assertive enough to take center stage and the percussion is so active that it seems as if it's more important and in higher relief than the rest of the elements of the music. Usually, the percussion serves to accompany the melodic and harmonic elements in any kind of rock track, even though sometimes they have fills and stuff that ornament the music as if they're more important. At least that's how I perceive what I hear here. Hear, hear! Thanks for sharing.
General Pokopo
Thanks for answering. Soo are you saying percusion is too much or other elements are laking, or both?( i need to read in CAPITAL LETTERS to understand, sorry 😄) i was hoping to achive some sort of progression with percussion and i kkept adding stuff. Well, maybbe i should reduce instead. As they say sometimes less is more 😄 have a nice day!

I'm listening to it again and it sounds really empty in the beginning and it takes a while for more instruments to come in and the percussion is really active and center stage from the start as well. Maybe tone down the percussion in the beginning as well to give it room to grow? Also, I didn't notice this before but this track lacks a bass which I think would help it sound more full and grounded if added at some point.
General Pokopo
I added some bass for a fragment do you think it works better now? I also made second version but bass didnt fit everything else soo i replaced everything with same thing as bass 😄 I thought this one is done but im gonna work on this some more. Thanks for good advices 🙂 MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Bass Ripped > next
