My prelude

Hello @Yoni,

Welcome to the forum!

The prelude sounds really chromatic and sometimes dissonant. With the thick texture the music sounds really busy and urgent and I like that.

I think the modulation back to G minor by Bb major in b.21 a bit abrupt from C major in b.20. Maybe add slightly longer retransition? 

The piece ends on dominant D major chord. Will you end it on tonic key?

Thank you very much for the nice response! Yes, on purpose the prelude is very chromatic - the emphasis is on the movements of the left hand. I actually thought that the section between key c and modulation has nothing to do with the parts surrounding it, it seems to me that I will not change it. Still, I also wanted to finish on the dominant. Leaving an open end - I have another prelude that I haven't typed yet and it is a continuation of this prelude

But why do you want the section to be unrelated to the parts surrounding it? It can sound abrupt and flow less smoothly.

This is a much lighter part than the rest of the piece. I think it adds cheerfulness and a break from the complexity of all the beginnings and endings.

I find this prelude very lighthearted, but at the same time very dissonant, which adds to the ironic tone of the piece, maybe you could mark it “Andante Scherzando”.

Perhaps the cadenza with thirty second notes is too abrupt, Is it on purpose to add a jokey feel?

I would mark the low register octaves staccato for technical accuracy and to avoid getting an unwanted muddy sound. And I will also mark other things staccato to contribute to the mood, but that is just my opinion

Do you consider this a chromatic deviation from a classical or baroque style or a more twentieth century Prokofiev-like work with trick texture?

Hi, thanks for the response!! I think you made a mark both in the choice of the texture and in the expression of the cheerful part in the middle of the piece, I forgot to mark dynamics but the direction is that this part will be in poco vivace. In any case, I think the style is more towards Prokofiev
