Nocturno breve

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing this little piece I composed in less than an hour.

Personally I don't think it is very interesting but at least it is a cool challenge, because I am a slow composer most of the time.

I hope you enjoy!

Hello Ivan, I have already said this, but I really like your late romantic style, it is highly expressive, and not too disturbingly chromatic.

I find amazing how you can write a piece in under an hour. What was your inspiration? Did you already have pre-composed the thematic material?

Thank you for sharing

Manuel

Hello
This is a very nice piece.
And as a challenge-exercise, I think it exceeds expectations very well.

But as you point out, more or less, it sounds a bit predictable, and it is perceived to be made from a concrete and developed-varied idea.

Which doesn't detract from its value, not at all.

I love writing things in this style too, but I try to look for a point of surprise or originality.

A delight to listen to.

Thank you very much! I think this nocturne sounds like a middle ground between Chopin and Scriabin.

Yes, I don't do it often. Usually I take many hours for short 2-3 minute pieces. I didn't have any specific inspiration, it was whatever came to my mind at that moment.

Yes, and also the accompaniment is the same texture all the time and it is simple.

Glad to see you enjoyed it. 🙂

Hi @Ivan1791!

Beautiful work!  You should experiment more often with giving yourself these kinds of short challenges as I really love this result!  There are lots of easy forms that you could try to write in a short time - waltz, polonaise, mazurka, maybe even a rag?  I wouldn't even necessarily be concerned with writing in any particular form (structure-wise), just with staying true to the particular characteristics of each dance-like form.

I noticed that I sometimes perceive the melody differently than what is written, because of the close quarters of the melody and accompaniment in some measures (such as the 2nd half of measure 5).  Maybe that could be remedied if the melody were to be brought out even more into high relief while really concealing the accompaniment more when it's in the same range as the melody?  Thanks for sharing!
