Frank Normandy
Hello everyone, So by now, you know I love to compose dance music(: This piece is no exception. Yeah, it leans on the simpler side of compositions, and it’s rather short too, but I aimed to focus on melody and emotion this time around. I actually composed this before my Roses piece, but to be honest, I feel more satisfied with this dance than Roses due to the focus on expression. Ok, I’ve nipped your eyes with my description for long enough, so let’s get listening!:D ~Frank MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Dance of Desire, Salamander > next
Jqh73o
Hello @Frank Normandy I like the expressive part with the chords, though, as I have already said while reviewing other of your works, it would benefit from a more agitated figuration and pedal. But if the focus was on expressiveness. It is a good way to go. The usage of the minor four chord in a major key (which I think you have used, but I might be wrong) is really expressive, I recommend using it (for future compositions) with or replacing it with the half diminished second degree, as they are vey similar, jut with an added note Thanks for sharing Manuel PS why the “Salamander” in the title of the audio?

The “Salamander” in the title refers to the Salamander Grand Piano SFZ file I used for the piano sound in my audio. Yeah, it’s a bit of an awkward move, but that’s how I organize my composition audio collection in my devices. ~Frank
MJFOBOE
A lovely romantic lyrical work. Maybe the repetitive left hand in the beginning theme can be a bit more varied. Mark
PeterthePapercomPoser
Hi @Frank Normandy! I used to participate in a monthly music competition website called midi-contest.com (it is now defunct). The submissions to that contest were required to be at minimum 1:30 in duration so your piece would just barely pass the requirement! This piece starts off with a wonderful melancholy and moves to a slightly more uplifting and optimistic middle section (or rather, an answer, to the first phrase I guess). I can easily imagine this piece as a programmatic background music to some kind of story told in silence. Thanks for sharing!
