Ivan1791 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Hello everyone. I haven't really composed anything interesting when it comes to orchestral music but I still wanted to share this miniature I wrote 2 years ago. Do you think it matches the style of Webern? 1 Quote
PeterthePapercomPoser Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Hi @Ivan1791! I think it matches Webern. The one thing that is different, I think, is that Webern also serialized note durations. It seems like you start the piece with mostly sustained notes, and end with a kind of shorter, more separated gesture. But I don't think you should try to mimic Webern. Personally, if you're messing around with serialism, I would try to find new ways of incorporating some tonal elements into it, so I guess more like Berg but in your own way. I think the synthesis of the two approaches - tonality and serialism is where all the musically interesting potential lies. But that's just my opinion. Thanks for sharing! Quote
