Solans Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Hi, today my music "Cranes Are Inside U" was released on YouTube, most of which is played on the piano, and I am very worried if people who really like piano works will listen to it. Please tell me how to help them discover my music. MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Solans - Cranes are inside you > next Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Hello @Solans, Welcome to the forum! The theme sounds very cool. There are varieties in the timbre later on. I think you can add more varieties on the melody and harmony of the piece, since the harmonic progression is more or less the same in each of the variations. For a 11 minute piece may be that would be a bit predictable. The harmony can be more chromatic and dissonant, instead of using always those consonant chords! There can be modulations as well, instead of staying in the region if C minor/Eb major. The melody can also varied with more non harmonic tones and notes outside the C minor/Eb major scale. Also between each variations there is a pause which for me disturbs the flow of music. Maybe it’s more related to the program you write? Thx for joining and sharing your music! Henry Quote
Solans Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Thanks Henry, I intentionally didn't use modulation, and it probably could have been really useful. Almost all the pauses are due to the specifics of the video and its idea. You have offered a lot of good ideas, thank you Quote
MJFOBOE Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Your music reminds of the piano score from the movie The Piano. Listen to the piano towards the end of the preview. Mark Quote

The more you share your thoughts or ideas with composers, the more likely they'll reach out to you in return. Be social, that thing so many dread 😛 For future music, I encourage you to write shorter pieces so you can practice the techniques and ideas you learn about as you grow. You seem to have a voice as a composer, so take the music you love and study up why you gravitate towards certain sounds, scales, chord progressions, etc. The more you write, the faster you'll learn. This has a pop feel to me, as you mostly vary up small consonant progressions. The pauses were a bit weird, and we don't have a video for reference. Also, if you're lucky enough to have Henry comment on your music, take special care to note what he says. He's a better man than most. Good luck with your music, and like I said, be social! 1 Quote

Thank you, by that I meant that I want to see the criticism of the work. As for the lack of going beyond the key of Cm: we can say that this is such an experiment, the purpose of which is to check whether a full-fledged work can be written within the same key. I probably confused you by posting the music at 11:46, but in fact the clean piano ends at 06:23, and I really should have posted the music only before 6:23. After 6:23, we can assume that the arrangement is in progress, as far as it is appropriate in this music. Thanks for the feedback Quote
