Kvothe Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Hi there @Samuel_vangogh: I thoroughly enjoyed this short, modal piece. The quartet harmonies, which act as a background material, for the modal foreground theme is quaint lovely. It reminds me of how ravel wrote his Piano Preludes. What I especially love was the short cadenza. That truly showcased the Quartal harmony. Overall, you did a great job. 1 Quote
Samuel_vangogh Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Hi @Kvothe Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to listen the piece! Its not finished, that short cadenza is just the second part (which is yet to finish) that acts as a contrast material for the posterior repetition of the first theme! Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Hi @Samuel_vangogh, I really love the thick 3 voice texture at the beginning! As @Kvothesaid the Lydian modal sound is great as well. I think you can write in a key signature with 4 sharps instead. The chordal looks good too with climax buidling up. Thx for sharing! Henry 1 Quote
Samuel_vangogh Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 Hi! @Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Thank you for your reply! But I'm not familiar with some terms, what do yoh mean with "chordal" ? 1 Quote

PeterthePapercomPoser Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Hi @Samuel_vangogh! I love the mixolydian mode you use here! And the use of parallel 4ths is also quite nice! I think the piece loses a little steam in the ad libitum section. Maybe you could find some way to return from where the piece stops back to the main theme and then conclude the piece? Thanks for sharing! 1 Quote
