PeterthePapercomPoser Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hi @Bjarke! What an exhilarating flurry of notes! The first thing I notice about this rendition is that it almost sounds like it was recorded in mono rather than stereo and with the piano being in another room or behind a barrier. I've never used Dorico, so I don't know what you can do to fix this. Even though there's audible and visible dynamic changes in the piece, it comes out sounding flat dynamically and like the changes aren't dramatic enough and like the piece is too soft overall. Engraving wise, sometimes you could have used an ottava sign for some of the really high stuff in the right hand which would make it much easier to read. Musically, the piece stays at the same fast tempo throughout the whole thing. It would have been nice to hear a contrasting section to give the listener a short respite from the intensity. Thanks for sharing! Quote
Henry Ng Tsz Kiu Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hi @Bjarke, It's an exciting piece! I think pianistically it can be really difficult to play. There is almost no resting place for the pianist wih all the furies and b.117-119 for right hand and b. 120-122 for left hand would be really difficult to play. Apart from what Peter has said on the dynamic level, I think you can also vary the pacing and texture of the piece in the middle section, since the quick tempo and thick teture, no matter how quick and thick it is, would become a norm for the listener and reduce the intensity of the music! Chords in b.135-138 should be shared between the hands in different clefs in my opinion. Thx for sharing! Henry Quote
