MJFOBOE Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Hi all, I just completed my first draft of my new work. It has been reviewed twice with my mentor and this version incorporates suggestions from our discussions. It does not have a title as yet. Suggestions welcome and well as comments. Fruit hunter Posted February 1 Posted February 1 My suggestion is to, of course, label the percussion instruments and it may be that your piece may not need it but just in case, though if you’re planning to use a variety of percussion instruments, then you should definitely use more than one Staff . parts would be percussion one and two or whatever initial instruments that part is starting on. Yes, of course ... thanks for reminding me. I will attend to it. Any comments on the orchestration, thematic development etc....? Thanks, Mark Quote

MJFOBOE Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 Hi all, I chosen a name for the work "Phantom Carousel". There is a hesitant approach and then the ride begins .... it all ends on a happy note. This is the latest version with many tweaks ..... I hope you enjoy this version. I understand your point of view and it gave me pause ... and I gave it serious consideration and made a few minor tweaks. However, I would like to share that most of the responses from my orchestra colleagues, friends and mentor found the repetitive rhythmic motif and subsequent variations .... engaging. Mark Quote
MJFOBOE Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 (edited) For those who might be interested in the evolution of the work I am posting the finished (99%) version. In this version harmonic structure is enhanced with less doubling. Better transitions, some tweaks to the orchestration (balance) and more attention to articulation. And I gave the tuba a solo! The score is in Concert pitch. I hope you enjoy the composition. 🙂 Mark As always comments appreciated Edited February 12 by MJFOBOE MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Phantom Carousel 2-11-2025 > next PDF Phantom Carousel 2-11-2025 Quote
Fruit hunter Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Measure 119 percussion part has pizz. Assuming this is from copy and pasting. And also a few measures after that in the strings you don’t have to write pizz again since it’s already written also, some other notation things make sure dynamics are not repeated in one part and make sure things don’t overlap like dynamics and articulation Edited February 12 by Fruit hunter Quote

I will attend to it. Mark Quote
