I have yet another microtonal invention for you!  This time, I intended the piece to be for harpsichord, but embarrassingly, I didn't check the range of the harpsichord before writing the piece, so it goes both too low and too high for this to be playable by a harpsichord since its range is from F to F.  So instead I changed the instrument to piano to make this realization possible.  The only microtonal aspect of this piece is in the 1/6 tone lower major 3rds to bring them closer to the major 3rd in the harmonic series (a "justly tuned 3rd").  I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, critiques or observations you may have!  Thanks for listening.

Wow, that notation is tricky to read. So my comments will be only from listening observations.

The invention itself awesome, but I'm not sure the microtones were as effective here as your last piece. However, I was having a hard time figuring out if you changed key at around 0:30. It sounds like a slight key change, or a "micro" key change perhaps 😄. Either way, a very harmonically interesting invention, and I like how you change the range from mid, to high to low. I would have never guessed the range of the harpsichord to be that limited though and I probably would have made the same mistake.

Hi Peter,

I like this too. The counterpoint is as great as usual. But like @chopin said I think the microtones here is not as effective as the Microtonal Sonatina in F#. In there the microtones add flavour which matches the satirical atmosphere there, like adding soybean sauce to a steamed fish. But here it's more like playing an out of tuned harpsichord with a normal Baroque invention, like adding soybean sauce to a deep-fried fish. I don't know why but that's how I feel. Maybe beause the invention form is too formailzed and forced us to relate it to Bach's invention, while the Sonatina doesn't. Thx for sharing!
