Suggestion:

--a Performance/whatever-you'd-want-to-call-it Forum where you post recordings of you playing your instrument for critique and commenting.

Not the kind specifically where members post videos/audios of them playing their instrument and getting critiqued and commented for our own benefit. This definitely deserves its own forum in respect to the whole beneficial aspect of such an idea.

Please, admins, tell me what you think..

This would be better handled with the new software we plan to add in the not-too-distant future, which will likely include sections for audio and video uploads, though the privilege of using these features may come at a price. Otherwise, we wouldn't have enough funds to support such a system.

Yes, the service we're going to roll out... eventually.

It is indeed the buzz-word of the times. However, Michael (the other one / chopin) has promised to begin writing out the specifications ready to send off to a freelancer by the start of December.

But say I wanted to upload a saxophone recording here today, is there any place here I'd be able to post that?
You could use the Performance forum.

EDIT: Oh, if by "post" you mean put the recording file on YC, we don't cater for something like that yet, no.

I have such high hopes for what YC will become. I'm holding out for this new thing that's coming eventually...and I hope it will be integrated in with the wiki feature of the site right now. I absolutely love the idea of the wiki, and I wish it were a little more alive...we could make such an amazing network of musical thoughts, ideas, information, and wisdom if we were all to contribute regularly to it as much as we contribute to the forums.
