Guest Invisionary Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I didnt have the time to enter, had to move and stuff. I am curious when is the deadline? And will we get to hear the entries then?
Guest Nickthoven Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 The deadline's going to be sometime in March. Once the deadline is over I'll have people post their stuff in a thread in the Submissions forum, free for anyone to hear, and for the judges to download and comment on.

Ok thanks, I look forward to hearing them.
Sparks316 Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 I'm in.... I have a month....so I should be able to do this! :-D
Mark Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 yeah, from the first movement and what he'd shown me of one of the other movements his one was going to be very interesting
Jeremiah Hong Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Well, that just leaves me with a better chance of winning... :P
TheMeaningofLIfe Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I don't think I'm gonna finish it in time.
Mark Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 THE DEADLINE: So far, let's shoot for the middle of March. sooner than i thought
Guest Nickthoven Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 OH, GARD! My computer DIED AGAIN!!! So I'm only online when I have the time and energy to waltz over to the computer lab and use their fancy Macs (which is what I'm using right now, so jealous). And my piece is still unfinished, but it could use a nice deadline, or I could use a swift kick in the pants, at least. So let's say the official deadline for entries is: the end of the day (11:59 EST, only because that's what my time zone is) Friday, March 30th! This should be enough time for everyone to finish up and polish their scores! So get working dammit!!! --and I'll set up the thread where you can post your entries, ONLY AFTER THE DEADLINE.
Mike Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 You have rotten luck with computers, Nick. ;) I'll put an announcement up spreading the word on the deadline. I altered the time you specified from 11:59 to 23:59 just to avoid any confusion. At least, I assume this is what you meant - feel free to correct me.
Dirk Gently Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Heh, damn other works....haven't worked on my piece for this much lately :musicwhistle:....perhaps I'll pull some all-nighters :glare:.
Guest Nickthoven Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Well, I guess it would be good to say that once you have completed your piece, please let me know by PM. (as soon as it is 100% completed). Then, once the deadline is over, you need to post your piece in the Submissions thread BEFORE that Monday (the 2nd), EST again. Then judges will have a week and a half - 2 weeks to judge them.
Guest CreationArtist Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I'm sorry, but (as much as I have advocated for the symphonic competition) I'm going to have to withdraw for a couple of reasons.. but I'm definitely going to participate in the next competition. (I just think I'm too new right now in music and I'm focusing on familiarizing myself with everything. I don't want to write down my thematic material just yet, instead I'll focus on more basic and general things first.)
Beethovensheir Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Can the work have been performed already? if so count me in.
Guest Nickthoven Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 That's a yes to Schubert, but a no to Beethovensheir. Sorry, the rules stipulate that the work must be new.
retron Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw as I am nowhere close to being finished...
