Mike Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Added you to the list, Wolf_88. Nice to see you again around these parts. :P
steventanoto Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 I am new here, but I would like to enter. By new what do you mean?
Maximilian Caldwell Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I think Nick meant "original" as in "written especially for this competition." He might have meant 'new' as in 'n00b,' though. You can never tell with him.

steventanoto Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 alright, it is impossible for me to work that fast, so count me out :P my name wasnt on the list anyway, so its ok. Phew.
Jeremiah Hong Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I'll have to drop out. I was gonna use this pimped-out melody, but I think it'll sounds better as a piano sonata.
bob_the_sane Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 So, how many people are actually competing now? Maybe you could update the list.
yyoppp Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 is it ok if I started the piece after entering the compitition but have posted part of it on my soundclick already, does it have to be heared for the first time when it's posted on here?
violinboy Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 when do you submit.. ive done mine.. ive already posted on the site, but do i need to do a seperate one here as well?
Mark Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 is it ok if I started the piece after entering the compitition but have posted part of it on my soundclick already, does it have to be heared for the first time when it's posted on here? It's one movement so if you have other movements posted anywhere that doesn't matter, if you've already posted the movement you wish to enter that's not allowed
Wolf_88 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I'm dropping out... wouldn't want to hurt your ears :)
Maximilian Caldwell Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Looks like the deadline just passed. When do the judges get the submissions?
Guest Nickthoven Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 ARGH! My computer craps out at the most inopportune moments. So... I will open up a Submissions thread for this competition. If you are still in, and you have a piece to submit, please attach it or post a link to it in that thread. The judges will then download everyone's pieces and submit detailed and scored (out of 100%) judgings to me within 2 weeks. If you are not sure whether you're a judge or not, go ahead and judge anyway.
Maximilian Caldwell Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Just to confirm, a MIDI and score are required, and an mp3 is optional?
Guest Nickthoven Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 The thread and rules are up. If you have any questions, please PM them to me.
Guest Nickthoven Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 My thoughts exactly, Chris. They scalloped and moaned to get their way, then failed to follow through in the end.
Mike Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 People can't be happy with the satisfaction of winning, they need something to coerce them to try. This may well be true, but what can we feasibly offer? I sent out a PM to the judges a while ago asking for their judgings. So far, I've only received judgings from one of them. I've re-sent the message and will allow up to five more days for the rest to come up with the goods, after which time I'll declare the winner of the competition based on whatever judgings are to hand. It's worth noting, however, that April is often a busy time of year insofar as exams etc., so some of the judges may simply not have had time.
yyoppp Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I say you re-open the submissions thread, give people another chance to submit there compositions and wait until there is enough compositions for this contest to actually have a meaning.
Mark Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Which would make things massively unfair to those who'd already submitted their's, them having worked to a deadline and met it.
Mike Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Which would make things massively unfair to those who'd already submitted their's, them having worked to a deadline and met it. Yes, I share that view, though on the other hand, having a few more pieces might have spiced things up a little.
Guest CreationArtist Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 And to me, since if we did extend to May 5, for example, I definitely would have participated.
Mike Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 There's no point declaring deadlines if they aren't going to matter in the end. If we were to re-open the submissions thread in this case, we'd leave ourselves open to allowing pieces to be submitted post-deadline for every single subsequent competition. So no, I'm not willing to re-open the thread, because it would set an unworkable precedent.
Mike Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 The final deadline for judgings has passed. Altogether, I received two of them. Not brilliant, but workable I suppose. Bit pressed for time to go through my PMs right now though - I'll try to declare the winner later on today.
