  1. 1. What do you care about more?

    • That Youngcomposers.com is sold and incredibly now owned by the amazing Michael Porcaro.
      3
    • That Youngcomposers.com is a place for young composers to share ideas.

I'm sorry to put it in this format, but despite the (honestly) great things that have been done for this board, one gets a slight feeling of this being someone's empire - and that everyone should know - which is what a few of the old regulars may have reservations about. If the name was put there by Mark (or someone else), I apologise.

I agree, Stefan. I believe Michael is away on holiday at the moment, so I took the liberty of editing some elements of the front page in his absence. If he is around, I hope he didn't mind...

I'm stumped as to what to replace "critiqued" with, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a feeling that some people might not know the word "critique", so I changed that part to this: "To obtain feedback on your music from fellow composers". I also altered some other elements of the description.

At some point the HTML code on that page needs to be tidied up too, as it's currently not valid HTML 4.01 Transitional.

Thanks Mike. :) And good point about the HTML! I'm sure David will be pleased too. :)

Lots of smileys here... :)

And to be honest - I don't have a problem with using critique as a verb. It's perfectly understandable in meaning and can hardly be seen as some sort of bastardisation of the language. If anything it merely doesn't ahere to the strictest of rules. And there's nothing wrong with breaking a few rules, is there? ;)

Indeed I will be! But why transitional? It should be strict HTML!

Eh, I dunno, Chopin did the page. But yes, we should probably use strict HTML, or XHTML. And the CSS will vive once Chopin gets around to doing a proper CSS file.

In terms of the front page, I really like the violin concept.....the cartoon person looks nice too, but I would suggest having the title be bigger in some form......plus, u can also see the edge of the image. If that could be removed, I think it would blend nicely.

Mark put a "changing ownership" homepage before I obtained the domain. After I obtained the domain, I added to it until the design was a little bit more ready.

Putting my name on the front page served 2 purposes:

1. So you guys can get to know me.

2. An experiment to see if the page would have been found by that phrase.

I felt it was necessary to let most of the old forum members know the site had a new owner (so did Mark) because many things would change...and it was just temporary while the forums changed over. I am in the process of trying to design the permanent page, and content
