Guest Anders Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I thought; what the heck! Let's get another one going! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Young Composers's Solo Piano Competition Make variations on 1 or more theme you've created yourself. The only instrument used will be ONE piano. Anyone who wants to judge can just sign up in this thread. Judges can't take part in the competition, of course. Judges will give 1 score from 1 to 10, and write some comments, suggestions, and constructive criticism of minimum 5 lines. The composers shouldn't release their material before the deadline. Post your composition on the day of the deadline, being December 10th. The composition is allowed to be difficult, but not impossible. You won't get less marks for composing something that is extremely hard to play. But yeah, it shouldn't have rolled 20-note chords in 16th's at a tempo of 220 or something... Compositions should be submitted either in Finale format (*2005 OR EARLIER*) + midi file , Sibelius format + midi file , Pdf fprmat + midi file No MP3's please, We want everyone to have an equal chance, and everything sounds better in MP3, also; some people may not be able to download too many MP3's. The composition can be as long or short as you want, but with a minimum of 5 variations. ----------------------------------------------- CONTESTANTS Lord sorasen M4 Mahlon Chris Shaver Bach88 Nichtoven High markander Chad dream eyes Eldeni ABWLTPG dreams87 nonne JUDGES Maestro Akhil Gardner piano_player18
Lord Sorasen Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 MUAHAHAHA! Sign me up, yo. I'm no good, but I have a piece I can use. So, its Sept 15th? That makes no sence. And, ummm... About the piano, does it have to be the normal piano? Can we use a stranger varyation of piano, such as honky tonk?
J. Lee Graham Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Letehn, I know you couldn't possibly have meant September 15, since it's past...and October 15 is only four days away! Kindly, what is the real deadline?????
Guest Anders Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Heheh.. T'has been fixed, December 10th is the real deadline. I'm quite ecxited about this, should be a real pleasure to judge. Will YOU be honoring me with your participation, by any chance? Originally posted by Lord SorasenSign me up, yo. I'm no good, but I have a piece I can use. So, its Sept 15th? That makes no sence. Is this piece a solo piano piece in theme and variations form, with at least five variations? And no, the only instrument used will be ONE PIANO. That means a piano/pianoforte/instrument you can play both forte and piano on/ that instrument J.S bach regarded as barbaric. If your piece meets these criteria, you may submit it! So there! :)
Marius Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Please count me in, I'd love to make another piano solo, they're good fun :)
Guest Anders Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Can I compete also? What a silly question! Of course you can! :) Mahlon and M4, consider yourselves signed up! Remember, the composition will be A solo piano piece with at least 5 variations on a theme you've created yourself. If you have a silly question, do not hesitate to ask! I will not attack you nor beat you to death with a crowbar for godness sake! Have fun!! (And pleeeeeeeeease don't procrastinate!)
Daniel Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 il enter as a contestant. *groans* i make too many commitments...
Guest Anders Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Do not fear! You can quit the competition anytime you like! In fact, you would be doing the judges a favour if you were to do so, seeing as ''they'' are only one person! More judges please! And Daniel, you be signed up. *Examines this post and previous post* I am NOT drunk!

Can I use any single one?
Guest Anders Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I think you've misunderstood my question. Most MIDI keyboards have an array of instruments labelled "piano." Can I use any single one? No, a regular piano. No flashy stuff. Shaver: I've added you

Guest Anders Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I like to compete! So do i! Will you be joining this competition? Juuuust kidding.. :P
Guest Nickthoven Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 I guess I'll see what I can do for this. Hopefully I'll get a better start than the Ragnorak thing, which completely flopped. I remember doing this once before, and writing a piece of crap! But count me in anyway.
High markander Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 This looks neat. Could you add me in as a contestant?
Chad dream eyes Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Diving into some variations will be good for me! Count me in!
Jared Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Any judging criteria? I may just sign on as a judge, but with like 10 contestants that could be a ton of work, plus I'm not a terribly good judge in the slightest... hm. Depending on the criteria, I may judge.
eldeni Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 i just want to clarify something.. I was added as a contestant, and then i see i´m on the judge list... is that possible?.. lol :)
Guest Anders Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 nintenboy5: There is no more criteria than what you see in that first post eldeni: oops! :)
