arranging rates

Hi, I have some work coming up arranging music for sax quartets, but I don't know what the going rates are for this (and arranging in general). Anybody had any experience they could share with me for this kind of thing?

Sorry I can't help you now. The source of guidelines - the "british academy of composers and songwriters" has been forced to withdraw its fees guidelines by the OFT...good old stupid britain and its big brother government. I won't go on - you can read the issue here if you like

You need to figure out what the time and effort is worth to you. Is this your first 'professional' work? How quickly can you turn out a decent 'product'? Some guys do it by the page; measure; or hour. Others do it by how long the piece is. Personally, for quartet arrangements, I'd want about $100 for, say, an easy three minutes of music.
