The Hourglass Mind Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Australian Music Examinations Board From Wikipedia The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) is a privately funded corporation which assesses music, speech and drama in Australia. The organisation had its beginnings at the Universities of Melbourne and Adelaide in 1887; the organisation now has a Federal Office in Melbourne, and offices in each state. In collaboration with teachers, parents and students, the AMEB syllabus writers create and publish syllabuses for educational purposes. Music syllabuses are available for most instruments found in the symphony orchestra and can be used for solo performances in concertos and examinations. The AMEB has also recently introduced a series of "for leisure" syllabuses for the piano which contain a repertoire of modern music. Syllabuses for Speech and Drama, as well as for Music Theory and Musicianship are also integral to the AMEB's curriculum offerings. AMEB graded examinations cover a large range of skill levels; from a "Preliminary" grade suitable for very young children through to the "Fellowship of Music", a degree that is often conferred on an honorary basis to musical luminaries. Kalile Alako Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I play the violin and the cello. I played piano for six years, but I never got good at it because I wanted to play violin. I've been playing violin for six years, a sadly short amount of time for an aspiring virtuoso. I've been playing cello for almost a year. Quote
FordBel Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Every decent musician can keep up a beat on the drums, I find. I play piano. I don't work at playing as much as composing so I'm a bit behind considering how long I've been learning. But if I really work then I could have grade 8 by this time next year. And I know a G and an A chord on the guitar (both major). Not wonderful for songwriting... I think I'll create a custom profile field for everybody stating what instrument they play. How 'bout it? EDIT: Done! Go to My Controls at the top, then Edit Profile Info on the left hand side to fill it in. I actually disagree with the first part. Decent musicians can keep a beat, yes, but when it comes to playing the drums, this is a whole different task entirely. Quote
Der Klavierspieler Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I've played Piano for seven(?) years and 'Cello for two(?). I am probably going to go into Piano as a profession in some facet. Quote

HeckelphoneNYC Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Violin, Viola, Piano, Oboe, mainly. I can play Recorder, Fife, Cello, Dulcimer, Guitar and Banjo sorta. Quote
SYS65 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Wow! That is quite impressive! …are you an orchestra teacher? I just love the process of discovery a new instrument, so I bought several instruments through the years, just I didn't succeed on all of them, I sold my trumpet because I couldn't play it, I tried for years but failed. I'd love and English Horn, but must save money for now, someday maybe I'll buy one, I hope I can play it. Quote
Billy Jonathan Setjoadi Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I've played Guitar for 4 years more less, Bass guitar(and Double Bass) for 3 years, Drumset for 5 years and Piano for 2 years. Marching Snare and Marimba roughly almost a year, violin for a year right now. the rest I can only played basic major scale and all minor scale Quote

Menelik Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 A little guitar and some more piano. But I don't give much about it. Quote
Jon Brooks Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I mainly play the Piano and French Horn... although occasionally I can be seen singing or squealing into a trumpet! Muahahaaa. 1 Quote
Austenite Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 It would be weird to answer to this thread by saying "none". But that's pretty much my case. I'm at an intermediate level at best on a guitar (I do never practice) and not even up to a beginner level in a piano or keyboard. So in fact I've given up and focused on composition alone. Quote
SYS65 Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 No man we gotta find a solution for that, you must play at least revolutionary etude :D you own a piano at least ? I'm selling one ugly loudly Yamaha, I send it via FedEx haha Quote
makemusicnet Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I play the piano, mainly jazz and pop music. I can also strum a few chords on the guitar. The one instrument I would love to learn how to play if I had time is the drums Quote

Ledger Note Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I'm not a master or even GOOD at any, but I'm best at guitar, then piano, and then ocarina (my true love, but so bothersome where I live. It's like harmonica. Hard to control the volume). Quote
