Guest JohnGalt Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Argh. I hate to be a party pooper, but it won't actually work... I expect the link to be removed fairly shortly. ;)It's a pre-packaged add-on that doesn't work with the latest incarnation of vB. I suspect a member map will have to be custom coded. Luckily, I have a lot more free time nowadays, so I should be able to cook up something. Eventually. :P Why not stick it on the Wiki and just link to it? Quote
Mike Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 The add-on, you mean? It's a product for vB. It wouldn't work with the wiki. Or did you mean somehow create a map within the wiki? By the way, I'm looking at the code right now and I would venture that it may be possible to figure out what's screwing things up and fix it, thus bypassing the need for writing something from scratch. Fixing the current offering would likely prove a time saver. Quote

Mike Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Hmm, off-site sounds convenient and appetizing... Something like this might do: World map - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia However, the code on the page for displaying that map is merely {{World Labelled Map}}. Most mysterious. I don't suppose anyone knows the mechanism behind this offhand? (I'll look into it too, obviously) Quote
Will Kirk Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Yes, that's because it's broken, like I said. Missed that, didn't read the entire thread till after I posted Quote
robinjessome Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 Argh. I hate to be a party pooper, but it won't actually work... Aawww...and it looked so cool too! Oh well, thanks for trying, guys! Hope you come up with a solution eventually. Quote
Mike Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 The map works, I just added myself. http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/new-features-8170.html#post110245 :) Quote
Mike Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Anyone other Firefox users experiencing large grey lines running horizontally and vertically through the map, not to mention considerable slowdown when moving/zooming? Just noticed this right now, wanting to determine whether or not it's unique to me. Quote

Mike Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Strange. I'll add a little note above the map encouraging people to report any problems. Quote

bob_the_sane Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 This is awesome! Could you add a link to it at the top? EDIT: Ah, sorry, just saw it:blush: Quote
Mike Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Should probably also mention that I've moved the Orphaned Threads item from the main navbar to the Useful submenu of Quick Links. Since there isn't a clamour of Orphaned Threads users demanding to know where it's gone, I assume nobody uses it anyway. :P It is extremely useful for finding works to review that thus far haven't been paid much attention, though (each time I want to review a work I look there). I've solved the (possibly unnoticed by most) issue of inverted commas being escaped with backslashes (e.g. "Mike's house") by auto-replacing them with the ` character. I came to the conclusion that the problem is essentially Google's fault since there is nothing in the script at our end that would cause this. Also, discovered the lines/slowdown problem was being caused by an add-on I use (Image Zoom) which isn't fully compatible with the latest version of Firefox. All is well. :P Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Would you, by any chance, be able to switch the positions of the "View New Posts" button and the "Calendar" button? I keep accidentally viewing the calender cause the new posts button's nolonger centered :D  Quote
Guest JohnGalt Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Ugh, please do. I keep clicking the wrong things. Quote
Guest Anders Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Yes please, I definately second that! *definitely OMG MARIUS SUCKS AT TYPING LOL I don't see how it is a problem. Just read and readjust yourself. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I didn't say it was a problem, per se, I just think it would be nice  I'm afraid of change, after all  Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I know! Now hand me my cane, I need to walk to meet the 4 O'clock post  Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Ok, an actual comment about the map. How come Anders' marker is yellow like all the members even though his should be brown like the other moderators? Why didn't it upgrade when he was promoted? Quote
Mike Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Fixed the colour of Anders' marker. And moved the View New Posts button. :D Quote
