Nightfly Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I am thinking whether to be a judge or a participant. These days I lack a motivation to work and this could bring me back on track.
SineQuaNon Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Well obviously the judges are the cooler party. :( Actually though I'd be really interested to hear what you came up with as a participant. Oh also Anders, do you have any ideas as to the judging system - point based?
James QZ Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Hi, I would like to sign up as a contestant if its still ok. Thanks. So what's the prize going to be?

Guest Anders Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Possibly a one-month subscription to the upcoming social network software.
Guest Anders Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Ah yes, Chris here has a dental issue... I feel for him - I know how it is. (Though my case was probably much less severe than his)
violinfiddler Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I'm in. But do you need an mp3 or midi to enter? Or can it just be a .MUS file?
Mike Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I'd imagine an audio/MIDI file would be required in addition to a score, since not all of the judges will own Finale (or want to go to the trouble of downloading Finale Notepad).

bob_the_sane Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 What's so hard about saving a midi file? This looks like a popular competition.:) I hope we get lots of cool entries.:) Do we get to listen to all of them after the judges have decided, or just the winners? (Do we post in a thread or are they submitted privately?) I've already got quite a bit for mine. Fastest I've worked for a while.;)
Mike Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 O.k., then I'm not in. ;) If you have Finale with GPO then you can save your piece as a WAV, which can then be converted to MP3 with the aid of any one of a number of programs out there. If you have Finale without GPO, you won't be able to save as an audio file (I believe), however the playback would sound distinctly MIDI-ish anyway. So saving a MIDI file would be perfectly acceptable. Think about it. :)

Guest Anders Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Violinfiddler uses notepad, if I recall correctly. EDIT: Damn, things move fast! Violin, you could just send the score to me when you finish and i'd produce a pdf and a midi for you.

SineQuaNon Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Making a PDF is simple, just download CutePDF writer (I'm such a CutePDF writer hoe...).
James H. Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Seems my original post was deleted  I would like to join the comp either way, but I need to know: I have so far two movements of a duet complete and I plan to write two more. Can I use it or will I have to start a new piece? Please let me know.
